Guidance/Counseling Center
Morrison Academy's guidance program provides a Bible-based program that is available to all students, teachers/staff and parents helping them recognize their uniqueness as individuals in Christ. Morrison seeks to provide a primarily proactive and preventative program that enables students to fulfill God's purpose in their lives by maturing spiritually, emotionally, academically, and socially.
What we are trying to do:
We will attempt to identify, address, and meet the personal and academic needs of students.
How we will do this:
Because success at school and in our personal lives can be measured and improved upon in many ways, we offer information, resources, and counsel to students and parents in several areas that are known to affect them at this stage of their lives. We will consciously depend upon God as we do this.
- We will attempt to identify, address and meet the personal and academic needs of students through an inviting and personable office culture, a guidance curriculum, responsive services, web-based resources, group workshops, individual student planning, personal counseling sessions and various activities.
- We will do this primarily through a team of trained school counselors and school chaplains, and with support from teachers and peer student counselors, all of whom are Christians.
Personal Contact/Appointments:
For elementary middle school, the guidance counselor is available for personal appointments with any student or parent at any time during the school day. If possible, appointments should be scheduled in advance.
For the high school, the Counseling Center (CC) staff is available for personal appointments with any student or parent at any time during the school day. If possible, appointments should be scheduled in advance with Mrs. Missy Bradburn, the CC administrative assistant. The counselors are also available on a ‘drop-in’ basis. It is the goal of the CC to have each student meet individually with a counselor each semester for the purpose of reviewing their academic schedule, four-year plan, and any personal concerns. The CC is located in the student center along with the chaplain's office.
Guidance Classes:
Each class meets with the CC staff to receive personal guidance on the age-appropriate topics.
